My husband surprised me with a horseback ride guided by Sun Mountain. It was the perfect day and we had a perfect ride. The staff was the best I have ever had. The horse was amazing and I had a smile from beginning to the end and beyond. I would love to go again.
WOW! This place is incredible! The ambiance is unbelievable. The lodge is amazing everywhere you look.

If you have breakfast in the dining room, and you like Eggs Benedict, get the Spinach & Tomato Benedict. There are a zillion flavors stacked on top of each other that burst in your mouth individually in each bite. Can't understand how the chef does it. Magic...
We stayed at the Lodge on a whim, we were travelling and were looking for a place to stay for the night. We called early in the morning and the desk person was wonderful, very polite and pleasant, they indicated check-in was later in the afternoon, but told us the room would be ready when we arrived. So glad we stayed here! The room was absolutely beautiful, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. I love how they had very soft music playing in our room, it was very relaxing and the room ready for us early. Unfortunately, the smoke from the forest fires hampered our view from our balcony, but it was lovely just the same. The setting is very serene. We were impressed with the resort and the service we received. The food was wonderful and the staff excellent. We were going to stay another day, but the smoke was heavy, I hope to go back some day soon, I can only imagine the views on a smokeless day! I would highly recommend this resort and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
I do not recommend Sun Mountain Lodge, particularly the dining. It took us over 3 hours to have dinner. 15 to 20 minutes to order drinks, another 15 for them to be delivered. Ordered dinner and it was at least an hour. No explanations for any of it. People who came in after we did were finished with their meal before our food arrived. We were the last ones in the dining room and the receptionist /cashier hurried us with the bill when our dessert arrived. Breakfast wasn't much better and on Sunday morning the tablecloths looked like they had been slept on they were so wrinkled. They have first class prices and 3 or 4 class service. Definitely not work the money!
We had a great first experience at the Lodge. The Robinson rooms are beautiful. Only wish we had stayed a little longer. My mother-in-law gave us a gift certificate which we presented at check in. All our incidentals: dining, horse excursions were charged to our room and deducted accordingly. On our first night, the group below us came in at 10 pm and proceeded to party until 1 am. We went to the front desk the next morning and Leanna took care of us immediately with no hassle. Had our luggage moved for us while we went on a horse back ride. ( we were upgraded to a beautiful suite at no charge). Breakfast was included in our package. The view is stunning in the dining area. The good was delicious and service was great. Although we didn't pay for the meals, the prices seemed reasonable to us. Reluctantly' we went on a 1-1/2 hr horse ride. I'm so glad we did. Was very relaxing and the volunteers that guide you were very informative.
